"The crowd doesn't think, it follows."

Not following the majority or what society has defined as the norm is a path to isolation.
You will be labelled as abnormal; you will be sidelined for being a precursor because you are only a genius, not a businessperson.
Many geniuses/inventors found themselves in this misunderstood situation because what they had discovered could not yet be perceived by others as the best thing for them; they were inventors who had received inspiration from a higher spiritual realm, putting them in the category of genius.

The great painter Vincent Van Gogh died in total destitution because during his lifetime he was unable to sell his paintings at a reasonable price, which he sold for almost nothing in order to survive; his art was not understood in his time, but today his paintings are worth millions of dollars.
Was Vincent Van Gogh wrong? No, as Steve Jobs could have said, Van Gogh was a genius entrepreneur like Nikola Tesla, but he was not a businessman.
In contrast, Steve Jobs had these 2 dimensions, being a creator of genius and a businessman, which is important to succeed in business.
Remember, "the crowd doesn't think, it follows". Whether it is rational or not, the crowd follows what society has established as a norm, as their needs; it is a cognitive programming which successful business people understood and fed the masses to that extent. Which is called understanding customer behaviour, the science of understanding what the market needs in order to have massive sales.

You can have a great idea or an amazing invention, but you must meet the crowd where they are going if you want to sell. Having your shop in a crowded place, surely you will have customers at hand. Which is extraordinarily perceived by digital products like social media, as everyone is using their phone.

Adapt your idea to the current trend, and by bringing innovation to it, you define your product as revolutionary for the world, but your revolutionary idea can wait for the world to be ready for it; otherwise, you will be preaching in the desert like the prophet John the Baptist, and the greatness of your offering will be known long after your death like Vincent Van Gogh. But if you combine a good business mindset with your offering by understanding where the market is going and what its needs are, you will follow the example of great entrepreneurs like Steve Jobs, Musk, Ma, Bezos, Huang et al.

Customers do not make choices based on rationality, nor does society as a whole.
As an entrepreneur or in business, you have to grab the opportunity to succeed by providing what people need at a given time, or you stick to your genius idea, but you have to wait for recognition, which can take a lot of time.
Are you ready to wait for your offer to be recognized or do you want to make money now?
Both can be achieved by adapting your offer to current market need. And, gradually feed customers over time with what you have discovered; The Internet was used by the United States military during World War II (1939-2945).
